Tulamben Beach

Tulamben is a small fishing village situated in the tranquility of Karangasem Regency, east side of Agung Mount featured by the beautiful beach with amazing underwater life. The beach is a heaven for divers in all over the words because the unique and beautiful underwater especially shipwreck as the best habitats for coral fishes. Tulamben is one of the best Bali Wreck Dive Spots pampering the divers with wonderful experience on every dive. The name of Tulamben is coming from the word of Batulambih (local Balinese word), that roughly translates as “many stones”. It is a reference to the destructive eruptions by Mount Agung that have affected this part of Bali. Tulamben Beach is not covered by sand, but is entirely covered by fairly large, and smooth stones.

In addition, the name evolved over time, first to “Batulamben” and finally settling on the contraction Tulamben (“batu” means “stone” in Indonesian). Tulamben beach is Located at Tulamben Village, Kubu district, Karangasem Regency that is about 3 hours driving from Ngurah Rai International Airport and it has been appointed as one of the famous destination in the east

 

This beach is a beautiful beach with serenity ambiance featured by the amazing underwater view. The underwater scenery can enchant every diver who go for diving. There are beautiful corals and colorful fishes as well as the existence shipwreck from USAT Liberty Ship since 1963 cause of Agung Mount eruption. We can find tropical fishes at this dive spot includes bump head parrot, mola-mola sunfish, hammerhead sharks and whale sharks. Meanwhile, the temperatures of underwater is stable and safe to dive. Therefore, this dive spot is an ideal dive spot for beginner divers. Tulamben Beach is the best place to go for diving, because it has flat lagoons and easy to reach the coral reefs from the coastal edge.

Diving at Tulamben Beach will be a great dive experiences for divers where it available great point to dive on diving trips. The experience will be impressible when go for diving to the shipwreck of USAT Liberty. It lies in shallow water and suitable for all certification levels diver. The ship rests in 30 meters of water roughly 25 meters from shore. We can reach it with a short swim from the beach. The highest point of the wreck tops out about 5 meters from the surface. The ship had been torpedoed by the Japanese submarine in 1942 on the sea near Lombok Island. And then, it had been towed to Tulamben Beach on rescue operations.

Furthermore, the big eruption of Agung Mount in 1963 has destroyed the most eastern side of Bali.  The lava had pushed the ship into the water from the shore. Hence, it became encrusted with coral and a home of thousand beautiful fishes where we can up to now. Tulamben Beach is also ideally for the honeymooners who celebrate the honeymoon season. Because the beach offers the peaceful atmosphere, romantic sunrise and calm seawater. The romantic shades and unique scenery of Agung Mount are standing behind of the beach as backdrop
